The Guns of Game Fair

 Clear

They call Nashville “Music City,” but there’s more to Tennessee’s capital than the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame. Game Fair, Ltd., purveyor to hunters & anglers, is music to sportsmen’s ears on the west side of town. Owner John Allen has been in the gun business for 35 years, and he knows what shooters like. From firearms and accoutrements to books, clothing and collectibles, he offers it all—in a  setting to be savored.

But it’s the fine guns that stand out—boxlocks and sidelocks made here and abroad. Like this Jason Abbot 12-bore (opposite) with 2-3/4" chambers, 26" barrels choked IC/M, and deep-cut floral engraving by Keith Thomas.

     Let’s look around.
This Browning Midas .410 has 28" barrels choked IC/M and a round-knob grip.
This upgraded Perazzi MX-8 SCO/OC sideplated 12-gauge has 31" barrels with Teague chokes; engraving by Meyer featuring Brittanys, springers and setters; and beautiful Turkish walnut from Dave VandenBrand.
A Browning Take Down Grade III .22 from the estate of Tennessee Ernie Ford with Felix Funken engraving and a rear wheel site.
Two American classics: an NID Grade 1 28-gauge (top) with 28" barrels choked F/F, and an L.C. Smith Field Grade .410 with 26" barrels choked IC/M.
A Sauer-made Charles Daly Diamond 12-gauge with 30" barrels and a Prince of Wales grip.
This Westley Richards Deluxe droplock 12-bore has 2-3/4" chambers, 28" barrels choked IC/F, and gold-wire work over floral scroll and game scenes.
A Browning Waterfowl Mallard  12-gauge (No. 312 of 500) with 28" barrels choked M/F, a round-knob grip and a long tang. New and unfired in the maker’s walnut case.
