Readers & Writers Adventures
On Readers & Writers Adventures Shooting Sportsmen readers and writers pursue southern quail, Dakota pheasants, Colorado mixed bag while visiting the finest lodges and making lifelong friends while enjoying top-notch shooting, first-rate dogwork and excellent food and accommodations.
Begun in 1994, with the goal of bringing readers and writers together for several days of fun & guns, SSM’s Readers & Writers Adventures is now in its 13th season. We have hosted more than 30 shoots at 20 lodges throughout the US and abroad. Thanks to a history of providing quality bird hunting, first-class facilities and unmatched camaraderie, the limited openings on these shoots typically fill quickly—by not only new participants but plenty of repeat attendees.
“I do at least one Reader & Writer Shoot every year. The hunts are great, and I cherish the wonderful relationships I’ve developed with the other readers. I particularly enjoy having Bruce Buck as a host.” —Brian Damiani, Virginia

Upcoming Shoots
Oak Tree Lodge (Clark, South Dakota)—Oct. 31 – Nov. 4, 2007
SEVERAL OPENINGS STILL AVAILABLE
Oak Tree Lodge offers some of the best pheasant hunting and dogwork found anywhere. The spacious lodge and renovated-farmhouse accommodations are on a 7,046-acre farm in northeast South Dakota. The land is managed extensively for ringnecks, and gunning takes place in food plots, such as standing corn; CRP grasslands; tree rows and marshy cattail sloughs. Classic drive-and-block techniques are employed, as is walk-up hunting. With 960 acres managed as a preserve, Oak Tree offers ample opportunities to find birds all day, every day. On-site Oak Tree Kennels specializes in training and breeding Labrador retrievers, which are used for the hunting.
Our group will have a five-bird daily limit, with use of the preserve. The cost, $2,090, includes lodging, food and beverages; three full days of guided hunting; an allotment of ammunition; and transportation to and from the airport in Watertown.
