Wild Wing Bobwhites
Kentucky quail with a difference
By Larry Brown
Getting out of Iowa in the winter and heading south is never a bad idea. So this past January when offered the opportunity to hunt quail at Kentucky's Wild Wing Lodge, I jumped at the chance. Our pheasant season officially had ended 10 days earlier, but a foot and a half of snow had made hunting impractical nearly a week before that. I was looking forward to more action in fields not buried in white stuff.
Wild Wing's motto is "Experience the Difference," and trekking through southern Illinois, I noticed something different right away: The area looked a lot like Minnesota, minus the snow.
