A Simple Way to Support Youth Shooting

In addition to writing Shooting Sportsman’s “Shot Talk” column on shotshell ballistics quite ably for many years until early 2003, many readers will recall Les Greevy’s long commitment to teaching young shooters competitive shotgunning. In fact, his commitment has been recognized in his nomination among a field of three for the 2008 Crosman Friend of Youth Shooting Award, which will be presented in February.

Greevy has been a volunteer Assistant National Shotgun Coach for the US Olympic Shooting Team, and, to quote the nomination, “With Multiple qualifications as a coach, instructor, training counselor and shotgun program administrator, he has both raised and spent a significant amount of his own money conducting camps for young athletes. His shooters dominate Olympic Double Trap, holding most of the Junior National records. He is credited with creating an infrastructure that will continue to develop outstanding young shotgun competitors for many years to come.”

Greevy runs a 501(c)(3) non-profit called Youth International Shotgun Training Coalition Inc., which has been chosen by the NRA to host its Advanced Junior Shotgun Camp. He came to us this week with a fundraising idea which seems perfectly painless and simple, so we thought we’d pass it along:
“You can help me raise money for YISTC by using the Yahoo-powered search engine called Good Search,” Greevy wrote. “Good Search will make a donation to YITSC of about one penny for every time a search is made, which may not sound like a lot but adds up quickly.

“All you need do is go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Youth International Shotgun Training Coalition Inc. as the charity you want to support. It is really easy, especially if you download the toolbar, and it means a lot to the kids and our program. If you have multiple computers, please sign them all up. Please ask your friends to do the same.

“A few moments of your time would result in a great deal of support over a long period of time. It is a wonderful way to support youth shooting and I would personally be very thankful for your help.”
