'Tis the Season

There's something about the holiday season that tends to wash away the grime of the rest of the year. I can't remember a time when I did not look forward to it, even when circumstances were less than ideal. Whether you like it or not, gift giving and gift getting have become a very large part of the holidays. This may not be an expression of the true meaning of the season, but it is what it is. When I was a kid, the adage "'Tis better to give than to receive" was drilled into me, and it actually made an impression in the deep recesses of my mind.
