I have a few questions for you, and you have to answer honestly for any of what follows to be of practical use. Have you ever analyzed how you approach and shoot a particular target? I mean, right from the initial moment you walk up to a stand and take your first look at the bird? If so, of key importance: What's the first thing that goes through your mind? My guess is that your answer is one of three things: You begin by judging distance, you focus on the speed of the target, or you note the general angle of the target-that is, whether it's a quartering bird, a crosser and so on.
