Easy Targets, Hard Targets

It is human nature, apparently, to concentrate on those things that require the least amount of effort. This notion has become pervasive-everything from easy money to easy physical fitness to easy claim forms for insurance companies to easy payments to easy cooking. Next time you're glued to the tube, pay attention to the ads and count the number of times the word "easy" appears. You'll be amazed. One recent ad for some fitness contraption managed to use "easy" four times and "effortless" twice, all in the space of a minute.
