New Festival for a Familiar Venue

There's a new spring shoot for shotgunners to add to their social calendar, though for many it will be hosted in a familiar place. The Northbrook Sports Club, outside of Chicago, has organized the first National Classic Shotgun Festival for the third weekend of May. It is being billed as a "game fair style weekend of fine guns and fine shooting," to be held at the Club's lovely grounds. (Readers may recall that Northbrook hosted The Vintagers' National Side-by-Side Festival in 2005.)

Competitions will permit shotguns of all action types except autoloaders, and there will be award classes specific to hammerguns, side-by-sides, over/unders and pumpguns. Shooting will include sporting clays, trap, skeet, 5 Stand and other target games, with serious competition offered for the NSSA World Vintage Skeet Championships on Saturday, May 20, and the National Classic Sporting Clays Championships on Sunday, May 21.

Sponsors and exhibitors will include Connecticut Shotgun Mfg. Co., Kimber, Briley Mfg., and Pro-Matic Traps. The event will close with a grand-prize drawing for a Galazan Launch Edition RBL, to be awarded to a randomly selected registered shooter. Registration before May 5 offers benefits that include entry in an additional prize drawing.
