The Historical Novel Takes Up a Parker
A review of "Knight of the Trigger"
By Vic Venters
Captain du Bray looked like a teapot-short and stout and ready to boil."
So begins the tale of Capt. Arthur William du Bray as told by Ed Muderlak in Parker Brothers: Knight of the Trigger. Du Bray was the best-known traveling gun salesman for Parker Bros. during the heyday of American shooting and hunting a century ago. Sporting journalists of the era dubbed on-the-road shooting professionals "knights of the trigger," hence the title of the book. Muderlak is a well-known Parker expert and author of Parker Gun: The Old Reliable (1997), a popular history of the classic American gunmaker.
