The Twilight Years
The aging process creeps up on all of us, including our beloved dogs, with subtle side effects. Hours spent in the field slowly tick by, and time logged pursuing game seems all too short. The climb to that special covert grows steadily steeper, and timeouts for breath-catching become more frequent and cherished. Aches and pains become more noticeable as arthritis stabs at joints that were once more fluid. The drive is still there, but the body follows more slowly. The symptoms are minor at first, and then whammo: Your dog is old, and even rising from bed becomes labored.
