Going Places
Marco Polo Partridge
In the rarified air that is the world of driven shooting there exists a sort of insiders' Gosford Park set that speaks in hushed tones about the finest shoots throughout Europe. The best shoots are often tracked like stock prices, for seasoned Guns are forever in search of the top beats to be had. Having dabbled in driven shooting from Hungary and Denmark to Ireland, Scotland and Spain, I occasionally have penetrated the inner circle of the driven fraternity and uncovered its secrets-one of which is that, given their choice of shoots, some of the UK's most devout grouse and pheasant shooters would opt for Spain's red-legged partridge.
