Guns of the Concours
John Manton Takes an NRA Cup
The Gold Medal Concours d'Elegance of Fine Guns features shotguns and rifles-new and old, from around the world-that are panel-judged in a variety of classes and categories. Through its Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) as well as the National Firearms Museum and the NRA Foundation, the National Rifle Association has been the presenting sponsor of the Gold Medal Concours almost since its inception. In 2001 Jim Baker, then head of the NRA-ILA, introduced the NRA Cup-an engraved silver chalice presented at each Concours to the "gun or rifle of the greatest historical significance to the development of sporting firearms.
