The Unusual Guyot of Henri Roux
I've been a professional gunsmith for a good while, and I'm still fascinated by the many types of firearms that come through my shop. Occasionally, a unique or-more important-a transitional type of gun shows up and I get to learn something about the thought process and design evolution that it represents. Such was the case in January 2004 when a new client called and said that he had a French shotgun made by Guyot that needed service. I had worked on three Guyots, all sidelocks, in the previous 30 years, and I mentioned my slight familiarity with the name.
