The Spice of Life

By E. Donnall Thomas, Jr.
At first glance, the prairies of Central Alberta convey an inexorable sense of desolation defined by relentless winds, barren vistas and weathered, abandoned buildings that stand as mute testimonials to a generation of homesteaders gone bust. But the seasoned sportsman's eye perceives a different story hidden beneath this bleak initial impression.
