Shooting
Baubles, Bangles & Beads
Why do shotguns have front sights? Why did World War II kamikaze pilots wear helmets? So many mysteries, so little time to solve them. I don't have a clue about the helmets, but I do know why guns have sights: Because tradition says they should. Except for highly specialized uses, they serve no purpose except as an obstacle to good shooting. You don't aim a shotgun; you simply point it where your eyes are looking-and if you're looking at the gun, whether barrel or bead, you've lost visual contact with the target, and that usually means missing it behind and probably underneath as well.
