Hunting Dogs
Environmental Problems
They say you can't make a silk purse of out of a sow's ear, and when it comes to breeding hunting dogs, it's true. If a dog doesn't have the right genes to be a good hunting dog, it won't be one. Genetics are genetics. The dog either has a good breeding background or it doesn't. However, having sound genetics isn't the only factor determining the quality of a bird dog. Training, whether it is sound, ineffective or downright detrimental, is a monumental ingredient in producing a finished dog. A lot of genetically talented dogs never reach their potential due to misguided owners implementing poor training methods.
