How Now, Frau Blau?
Of close calls and repaying good turns
By Dave Crehore, illustrated by Alan Phillips
Hey, look at this!"
Dad crooked a finger at me. I followed him around the corner of the old farmhouse to see what was up.
"Look at the outhouse," Dad said. "Mrs. Blau is in it. The auctioneer doesn't know it, but he's got her trapped. He's going to sell the damn thing right out from under her!"
At the age of 13, I didn't have a well-developed sense of drama, but I could see that the curtain clearly was going up on some sort of farce featuring two classic Wisconsin characters of the mid-1950s-Col.
