Fred Gilbert's Parker
A gun from the grand age of 'exhibition shooting'
By David Trevallion & J.E. Fender
Devotees of high-quality firearms acknowledge that all such fire-arms have souls-and voices, too, if only we have the power to understand them. A high-quality shotgun that at one stage of its life was in the possession of a person of note may speak with a clearer voice than one devoid of such association. Recently we had occasion to research the provenance of a superlative BH Grade hammerless 12-bore Parker that David had purchased in 1998 from the family of the original owner. Though evidently much used, the Damascus-barreled gun had not been abused and was in excellent condition.
