Charles Boswell Gunmaker
'Best' guns made with enthusiasm, emotion & soul
By Douglas Tate
Non-shotgunners frequently are perplexed by the price of a "best" gun. How can some side-by-sides cost tens of thousands of dollars when they do essentially the same job as others costing less than a thousand? Same as it ever was, I hear you say. Two hundred years ago, when a Manton fowler cost the equivalent of two years' pay for a gamekeeper, a Birmingham-made "gas pipe" or "park paling" intended for the African market could be had for a few shillings. Yet there always have been gunmakers willing to reconcile these polarizations.
